Please don’t attach private documents. We never need to see your scans to help, and a description or a screenshot of the problem is enough.
Pro isn’t unlocked on my new phone
- Make sure Google Play on the new phone is signed in to the same Google account you used to buy Pro.
- Open Scansy and restore your purchase.
- Still locked? Check that the purchase appears in Google Play → Payments & subscriptions → Budget & history, then email us with the order number (starting “GPA.”).
The camera doesn’t open
Scansy needs the Camera permission to scan, and uses it for nothing else. If you denied it, go to Android Settings → Apps → Scansy → Permissions → Camera and choose “Allow only while using the app”. You can also import photos from your gallery instead.
The edges of the page aren’t detected
- Put the page on a surface that contrasts with it: white paper on a dark table works best.
- Fit the whole page in the frame, with a little space around every edge.
- Use even light and avoid strong glare on glossy paper.
- You can always drag the corners by hand in the crop step.
Text recognition misses words
- Hold the phone parallel to the page and keep it steady so the text is sharp.
- Rescan in brighter, even light: shadows across the text make letters harder to read.
- Very small print, handwriting and stylised fonts are harder to read. Move closer, or scan the page in parts.
My PDF is too big to email or upload
Use Compress PDF in Scansy’s PDF tools. You can also split off only the pages you need. Our guide to compressing a PDF on Android explains the trade-offs.
I forgot the password on a locked PDF
PDF passwords are applied on your phone and we never see them, so we can’t recover or reset one. Keep an unlocked copy of important files, or store passwords in a password manager.
Moving my documents to a new phone
Your documents live only on your phone. Before switching, export the ones you need as PDFs and share them to your new phone or to storage you trust. Scansy Vault, an optional encrypted backup, is coming soon.
Turning off analytics
Open Scansy’s Settings and switch off anonymous usage analytics and crash reports. One switch covers both. See the privacy policy for exactly what they include.
Deleting my data
See delete your account and data. Without backup there is no account, so uninstalling Scansy removes everything.
