Delete your Scansy account and data

For most people there is nothing to delete on our side: Scansy keeps your documents on your phone and needs no account.

The short version

  • No backup? There is no account. Uninstall Scansy or clear its data.
  • Scansy Vault user? Settings → your account → Delete backup or Delete account.
  • We delete your account, email and encrypted files within 30 days.
  • Cancel a Vault subscription separately in Google Play.

If you never turned on backup

There is no account to delete. Scansy works without sign-up, and your scans, PDFs, folders and recognised text exist only on your phone. We never receive them.

To remove everything:

  • Uninstall Scansy, or
  • Clear its data: Android Settings → Apps → Scansy → Storage → Clear storage (wording varies slightly by phone).

Export any documents you want to keep first. Once the app data is cleared they cannot be recovered, by you or by us.

Anonymous usage counts and crash reports are not linked to your identity and expire on their own (2 months for analytics). You can stop them at any time with the switch in Scansy’s Settings.

If you use Scansy Vault

Scansy Vault is not available yet. These steps will apply once it launches.

In the app (the quickest way):

  1. Open Scansy and go to Settings.
  2. Tap your account.
  3. Choose Delete backup to remove your encrypted files but keep your account, or Delete account to remove your account and everything in it.

By email, if you no longer have the app: write to scansy@ellipsia.app from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We may ask you to confirm the request from that address before we act on it.

What gets deleted, and when

When you delete your Vault account, we delete:

  • your account and account ID;
  • your email address;
  • all your encrypted backup files, with their sizes and upload timestamps;
  • the key-wrapping records linked to your account.

Deletion is completed within 30 days of your request, including from our providers’ systems.

What is kept, and why

Purchase records held by Google Play and RevenueCat (what was bought and when, linked to an anonymous ID) are kept for as long as tax, accounting and refund laws require. They contain no documents and no card details.

Cancelling your subscription

Deleting your account does not cancel a Scansy Vault subscription, and uninstalling the app doesn’t either. Cancel it separately in the Google Play app: tap your profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Scansy → Cancel subscription. Scansy Pro is a one-time purchase, so there is nothing to cancel for it.
